Using supernatural powers, divination, or other illegitimate means to obtain others' secrets and privacy constitutes stealing. Some individuals proficient in the I Ching and Bagua employ these methods to calculate others' business secrets, corporate information, confidential data, resources, and similar matters. Generally, all such information belongs to personal or group secrets. Calculating and grasping others' information without consent constitutes an act of stealing. If the value involved is significant, the offense is grave; if it causes material loss or damage to reputation or other interests of the victim, the sin is even greater and cannot be repented. Particularly concerning the Three Jewels, one must not harbor any intention or engage in any act of prying. Matters one is not permitted to know should not be investigated, speculated upon, or calculated through any means. Only by being an upright person, with a righteous heart and noble character and prestige, can one become a sage.
Ghosts and spirits that privately invade and occupy others' living spaces commit an act of stealing; producing counterfeit and shoddy goods, abusing authority, and impersonation also constitute stealing. The United States emphasizes human rights, the most fundamental and legitimate rights of every individual. If these rights are used, encroached upon, or deprived by others, it is also considered stealing, excluding those sanctioned by law or involving illegal and illegitimate rights. Parents making decisions for their children, or children making decisions for their parents, without mutual knowledge or consent, even if known, constitutes stealing. Similarly, people making decisions for each other without informing the other party is an act of stealing, specifically stealing the other's right to autonomy.
Human use of the Earth's basic living conditions is an equal human right for everyone and should not be deprived for any reason or in any form; otherwise, it constitutes stealing. For instance, if a public area, belonging to the public domain or under government management, is privately enclosed by an individual to create a parking lot with mandatory fees, and the individual profits without any legitimate right to do so, this is stealing. Those skilled in scheming, who only seek to gain without giving, possess a stealing mentality; any intention to take advantage is a stealing mentality.
Individuals with a stronger sense of self-importance tend to disrespect others, disregard them, and consequently impose decisions upon them, violating, offending, suppressing, and exploiting them. What are modern commercial wars and various conflicts essentially? They are wars of deprivation and aggression, all belonging to the category of stealing. Many actions, whether by individuals or nations, stem from ignorance, delusion, and intense desire, leading them to commit acts of stealing.
